HIKING | BIKING | WINTER SPORTS | Tahoe Mod Lodge is the ideal basecamp for all your outdoor adventures. Tahoe Donner bike and cross country ski trails abound | Located practically right out the front door of The Mod Lodge!
Historic Summit Tunnel | This historical site offers a unique experience, highlighting its Chinese and Native American background railroad history. There are multiple tunnels, interesting graffiti art, and stunning views of Donner Lake. This is an easy, mostly flat hiking path, suitable for all ages. Guests recommend bringing a flashlight or headlamp, and water-resistant shoes | 22 minute drive
EUER VALLEY | is a simply spectacular (easy to intermediate) hike. You will come upon giant meadows of wildflowers, Aspen groves.
Shirley Canyon | Moderate difficulty hike, gorgeous nature and exciting waterfalls the entire way! Normally not crowded on weekdays | 20 minute drive
Sagehen Creek | Awesome all-day affair. Tons of wilderness, not many crowds. But please bug spray! | 12 minute drive
Donner Rim Trail | Can you feel the ghosts of The Donner Party?? Epic views can get a bit crowded. Worth it! | 9 minute drive
Loch Leven Lakes | Scenic hiking and biking. Serene natural vibe, moderate difficulty | 30 minute drive
Lower Eagle Falls | Here, you will find spectacular views of Emerald Bay (Lake Tahoe). Park in the lot if you're lucky (or on the road - make sure you're inside the white line, otherwise you may get a ticket). Take the trailhead on the lake side of the road, for a very short walk to the top of the falls. Drive a little further down the road, and you'll be in South Lake Tahoe very quickly | almost an hour drive
Bike Trails | Scenic bike trails can be found all over Truckee. Just open Google maps, and search for "bike trails". There's literally a ton of them... Truckee River Bike Trail, Riverview Bike Park, Truckee River Legacy Trail, just to name a few
Lakes | Beautiful lakes are in abundance here in the Tahoe Basin. Most offer great beaches, boating and motor sport activities, and absolutely AMAZING VIEWS. Some of the top contenders are... Lake Tahoe (obviously), Donner Lake, Prosser Creek Reservoir, Boca Reservoir, Stampede Reservoir, Independence Lake, and more

Hello! My mission is simple: To serve as your ultimate Tahoe launchpad, providing a warm, comfortable, welcoming basecamp for your adventures. With prime access to the Tahoe National Forest, the city of Truckee, and anything “Lake Tahoe”, I offer a cozy place to recharge after a day on the trails or the slopes. The Mod Lodge is a place where families and friends can gather, unplug, and create lifelong memories surrounded by the beauty of the High Sierra.
